Midnight Oil Custom & Classic Auto Builders Inc. is a family owned and operated business located in High River, AB.
Our business journey began in 2018 with the merger of Audrey's upholstery skills and Peter's extensive expertise of classic car restorations and mechanics. We started our business in our home shop - a combination of our garage and basement workspace. By 2019, we got an opportunity to expand and move our business beyond our home.
During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to focus on forming a business strategy and opened our doors to the public. The business began with a few clients, however, our name made its way into the classic car community and soon another expansion was necessary.
In 2021, we moved to our current location and our clientele base began growing rapidly. Our name was gaining traction fast and our business grew beyond our expectations. In 2022, we established ourselves as Midnight Oil Custom & Classic Auto Builders Inc. and began hiring staff.
Our team now consists of individuals with skills ranging from body and paint, mechanical and electrical to communications and upholstery.
We are so thankful for the support we have received this far, and we hope to continue to grow within our community.

Peter was born and raised in southern Nova Scotia in the Tri-County Region.
His hands-on mechanical work began at the age of 13 when he would assemble motorcycles for his brother who owned the local Suzuki Dealership.
Peter began racing motocross at the age of 14. He personally built, maintained and serviced his bikes. His love and skill in motocross continued for years to come and he earned the title of Atlantic Canada Intermediate 125 Champion for the Atlantic Provinces and New Brunswick in 1990 at the age of 27.
At the age of 18, Peter made the trip out to PEI to visit the Oyster Bed Speedway for the annual Labor Day drag race. Although he was in the crowd, Peter knew one day he would be on the track.
At 19, Peter traded his Toyota 4WD for a '67 Camaro. He converted it into a drag car and began his racing days from there.
In 2009, Peter, with his daughters Emma and Katie, spent countless hours in the shop constructing a '91 Daytona that he would race at the Greenfield Race Way in the summer of 2010.
Peter began his mechanic apprenticeship in 1982 with a local engine builder.
Peter had an interest from a young age in classic cars and hotrods. But his apprenticeship opportunity and hands-on engine building solidified the passion he holds for his trade.
In 1986, Peter earned his Red Seal Certification as an Automotive Service Technician.
In the early 2000's, Peter operated multiple businesses with his family but ultimately made the move to Alberta in 2012, then High River in 2014.
Four years later, Peter and his wife Audrey began operation under the name Midnight Oil.
With 40+ years of experience, Peter continues to show passion in his work and encourages young mechanics to learn the trade and extend their knowledge beyond surface level.
